In this episode of Geek Cinema Society, Brett Stewart, Nicole Davis, David Luzader, and their guest, Kari Simms co-founder of Blazing Caribou Productions, dig deep into one of the most lauded films of 2015, ‘Mad Max: Fury Road.’
Years after the collapse of civilization, the tyrannical Immortan Joe enslaves apocalypse survivors inside the desert fortress the Citadel. When the warrior Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) leads the despot’s five wives in a daring escape, she forges an alliance with Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy), a loner and former captive.
Fortified in the massive, armored truck the War Rig, they try to outrun the ruthless warlord and his henchmen in a deadly high-speed chase through the Wasteland.
Directed by the original franchise mastermind, George Miller, ‘Fury Road’ is a dynamic excursion through intense practical effects and visuals. Because it was such a high profile movie, does it carry Max into a new era of film for a new generation? Or is a jaunt through excessive car chases and minimal narrative?
Most of all we probe into Kari Simms‘ first impressions of the film. Seems like she has a lot to say on the narrative of the film. Nicole has an almost opposite view and desperately looks for a can of chrome spray paint. In addition to Brett can see both sides of the argument, and presses David. All of that and so much more on this episode of Geek Cinema Society.
